At
the new National
Cash Registers
office building
in Dundee, a
roof top plant
room was required
but the flue
was not to be
seen. This
meant that natural
buoyancy was
likely to be
at a premium
due to the short
riser possible.
The project
included five
MHS Regency atmospheric
boilers totalling
1567kW INPUT
and a flue run
that included
a horizontal
section longer
than the vertical
section
with two 90° bends. More than that, a plenum box was required so
that two Exhausto fans could be operated in tandem to cope with the very large
volume
flow requirement.
Therefore,
in conjunction
with J.R.F. Chimney
Specialists,
Exhausto proposed
a CAS8002
Chimney Automation System to control the draught and maintain a
constant under-pressure
in the entire
system, regardless
of the heat load
or the prevailing
weather conditions 22m up in the atmosphere! This system needed two frequency
converters to drive the fans, but both could be controlled from one Exhausto
EBC12 modulating controller.
The complete
chimney installation
was carried
out by JRF
Chimney Specialists & Heating
Distributors Ltd.
